Back in the day, there was one way to buy invitations:
Go to a printer or gift shop, sit down with a giant book (or two) of invites, pick the least offensive one and then choose from a set number of inks and fonts. Proofs? Nope, nuh-uh. Wait a few weeks, cross your fingers that the printer hasn’t made any mistakes and hope that your invitations aren’t as boring as you remember. Spend time with your bridesmaids, mother-in-law, neighbours – and anyone else you could rope into it – assembling, stuffing and addressing hundreds of invites. Send them off to your guests who received them and barely gave them a second look.
Wash. Rinse. Repeat for thousands of brides.
Thankfully, times have changed. Today’s couples want something different – something totally unique, something memorable, something no one else has done. We’ve got it.
These aren’t your mother’s invitations.
Hip Ink is stationery, evolved – a custom design studio (located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada) founded on the idea that stationery doesn’t have to be stuffy, matchy-matchy, mass-produced and milquetoast.
We believe in the power of paper, the power of an invitation to set the tone for an entire event, the power to take the personality of the couple and the feel of their wedding and translate it to a heirloom-quality invitation incorporating a variety of papers, textures, objects and design.
We also believe in the power of doing-it-yourself, so we offer DIY brides the option of purchasing paper, tools and embellishments sourced from all over the world, many of them exclusive to Hip Ink. In 2011, we’re thrilled to be introducing DIY Invitation Workshops, to help brides take their creations to the next level.
In the past four years, we’ve created custom invitations for a wide variety of clients and each one is a unique reflection of the very special event for which it was commissioned – whether you are getting married, becoming a bar or bat mitzvah, having a baby or planning a party, we can help you provide your guests with a dazzling first impression.
